Welcome to Camp Pinnacle
Camp Pinnacle’s unique approach to camp
Thanks for considering Camp Pinnacle, where we are dedicated to the growth and success of our campers. More than a fun summer diversion, we believe Camp Pinnacle is a defining life experience that helps kids gain the skills needed to thrive in the 21st century.
In 2011 we reopened one of the country’s great legacy camps, and renovated the beautiful 126-acre campus to provide our campers with fun, joy, and opportunities for growth. The result has been the creation of a Camp Pinnacle family consisting of hundreds of families.
Summer camp is a uniquely American experience, originally conceived for children in the 1890s as an antidote to industrialization. Camp Pinnacle’s been around for 90 years, but the last thing we plan to do is rest on our laurels.
The many benefits of summer camp
We live in the “Age of Acceleration,” so we are constantly innovating and adapting to make sure our 21st-century camp meets the developmental needs of 21st-century kids. We’ve designed Camp Pinnacle to fit the lives and budgets of modern families, offering two-week sessions, with a four-week option for families who choose the benefits of a longer experience. However, we are not an abbreviated summer camp. We’ve carefully designed a program that allows Camp Pinnacle kids to do more, learn more, and experience more than they could at most four- and five-week camps.
We don’t see our competition as other camps. Rather, we are competing against digital media. For Camp Pinnacle to be effective, we have to be more fun and more exciting than video games. When kids are having the time of their lives, it’s easy to help them build the life skills—like our 5 R’s and Great 8 Outcomes—they will need to thrive in the 21st century.
We know it’s hard for modern families to get their kids outdoors. We also understand the inherent and proven benefits children receive from genuine outdoor experiences. Thus, we carefully orchestrate Camp Pinnacle so every single camper, regardless of age, gets exciting, significant outdoor experiences. And to make preparation easier for parents, camp tuition is all-inclusive; all trips, activities, gear, and food are included.
Though we are located in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, we consider ourselves more of a global camp than a southern camp. In a typical summer, campers join us from about 35 states and 15 countries. We have worked hard to earn the highest camper return rate of any two-week camp we’ve heard of—a whopping 80 percent! We think that’s a testament to the power of our camp experience and the tremendous friendships our campers make in just a few weeks.
