Welcome to Camp
My twins had such a good time! They couldn’t stop talking about it when they got home. I love that Camp Pinnacle has become such a core part of their childhood. Choosing Camp Pinnacle was the decision we ever made for the kids! Each year, their experience gets better. Even when they struggle with activities, they get better and more confident each time. The blend of physical activities, silliness, and caring from the staff makes Camp Pinnacle a truly special experience for our kids. This was our 4th year, and they love it more each time. They look forward to it every year and even talk about how many more years they get to go until they “age out.” – Bridget Johnson, parent from Raleigh, NC
Camp Pinnacle’s unique approach to camp
Thanks for considering Camp Pinnacle. Our staff have dedicated our lives to the growth and success of our campers. More than a fun summer diversion, we believe Camp Pinnacle is a defining life experience that helps kids gain the skills needed to thrive in the 21st century.
In 2011, we undertook the challenge of our lives: We reopened a closed summer camp that had formerly been one of the country’s great legacy camps, and it has turned out to be the best decision we have ever made. We’ve completely renovated our beautiful 126-acre campus, and the sheer fun and joy our campers discover at Pinnacle has helped us become part of hundreds of families’ lives. Through our new approach to summer camp we’ve developed a camp format that truly fits the modern family. Our rustic, unplugged environment connects kids to nature and is the perfect vehicle for our Great 8 Outcomes and 5 R’s. And when children learn life lessons from role models who aren’t their parents, the learning is taken more quickly to heart. Camp Pinnacle remains a joyous place for all kids, and we hope you, too, will consider camp to be a valuable part of your child’s education, independence and growth.
We’d love to get to know you and your family. Feel free to call us anytime at 855-378-1928; we are eager to speak with you, learn about your children and answer your questions!
The many benefits of summer camp
Summer camp is a uniquely American experience, originally conceived for children in the 1890s as an antidote to industrialization. Camp Pinnacle’s been around for 90 years, but the last thing we plan to do is rest on our laurels.
We live in the “Age of Acceleration,” so we are constantly innovating and adapting to make sure our 21st-century camp meets the developmental needs of 21st-century kids. We’ve designed Camp Pinnacle to fit the lives and budgets of modern families, offering two- and three-week sessions, with a four- and five-week option for families who choose the benefits of a longer experience. However, we are not an abbreviated summer camp. We’ve carefully designed a program that allows Camp Pinnacle kids to do more, learn more, and experience more than they could at most four- and five-week camps.
We don’t see our competition as other camps. Rather, we are competing against digital media. For Camp Pinnacle to be effective, we have to be more fun and more exciting than video games. When kids are having the time of their lives, it’s easy to help them build the life skills—like our 5 R’s and Great 8 Outcomes—they will need to thrive in the 21st century.
We know it’s hard for modern families to get their kids outdoors. We also understand the inherent and proven benefits children receive from genuine outdoor experiences. Thus, we carefully orchestrate Camp Pinnacle so every single camper, regardless of age, gets exciting, significant outdoor experiences. And to make preparation easier for parents, camp tuition is all-inclusive; all trips, activities, gear, and food are included.
Though we are located in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, we consider ourselves more of an global camp than a southern camp. In a typical summer, campers join us from about 35 states and 15 countries. We have worked hard to earn the highest camper return rate of any two- or three-week camp we’ve heard of—a whopping 80 percent! We think that’s a testament to the power of our camp experience and the tremendous friendships our campers make in just a few weeks.
