Camp was an amazing experience for Drake, with a great blend of individual and group activities. She came home full of great stories and experiences! She’s been "camp sick" and constantly talks of and to her came life and new friends!” - Fair Waggoner, parent
Every camper's daily schedule typically includes six different activities. Daily activities are balanced between ones where campers learn valuable new skills and others which are "just for fun." On most days, campers will participate in activities with their cabin group. There are also daily free choice periods ("Hyptivity" and "Gym & Swim") when campers can choose the activities that interest them most. For information about our typical daily camp schedule, please click here!
We have "A" days "B" days and "C" days. "A" and "B" days feature scheduled activities with their cabin mates that insure every camper gets to try the wide variety of activities we offer, while building a close cabin community. "C" days allow campers to plan their own day and pick the activities that interest them most while enjoying activities with friends from across the camp community,
In addition to our numerous in camp activities (More than 30,) your child (regardless of age) will have the opportunity to raft a river, climb a real rock face, gaze at scenic views from atop a mountain summit, and camp out overnight (and roast marshmallows!) We don't consider Camp Pinnacle a hardcore wilderness camp. Yes, our campers participate in many outdoor adventures, but we work with kids at their own comfort and skill levels. We know that for many first-time campers, just being away from home can be a challenge. Our goal is to fully engage campers as we introduce kids to activities that can't be easily done at home. We build a lifetime love of outdoor activities and for living in a community filled with friends.
A unique and defining aspect of Camp Pinnacle is that we don't just stay on campus; we have incredibly fun Off-Camp Adventures for our campers to enjoy. Read more about our Off-Camp Adventures here!
The Camp Pinnacle waterfront provides plenty of opportunity for fun on and around the water! besides endless fun and the opportunity to cool off on a warm day, we want campers to improve swimming skills and learn how to properly use a variety of watercraft.
Camp is a great place to develop new skills. Many of these activities first learned at camp can be enjoyed for the rest of your life! Whether it's tennis, disc golf or archery, Camp Pinnacle gives campers the opportunity to try activities not always accessible at home. And none of these activities use batteries, electricity, or have any type of screen! Scattered around camp, we have a variety of activities that are purely for fun. There's a Monkey Brige, Lily Pads, the Lognasium, sliding boards, climbing nets, and even Putt Putt golf and a game room!
We are excited to announce that there will be a brand new Arts Center at Camp Pinnacle for 2016 as we place more emphasis on the arts. The Mountains of Western North Carolina are renowned for our community of artists. In addition to our talented Arts and Crafts counselors, we will be bringing in guest local artists on camper choice days to share their artistic specialties with interested campers.
Camp Pinnacle also has a teaching kitchen where creativity expands into the culinary arts with cooking and baking lessons from Richard, our resident chef and Jane, our camp mom!
Music is also an important of Camp Pinnacle and there are numerous opportunities to sing, play instruments and even be part of a camper band!
Whether it's making a lanyard in our craft shop, face painting with friends, creating a special skit or song, baking cookies or cupcakes or practicing yoga on the main lawn, campers are encouraged to boost their creativity at Camp Pinnacle.
We teach a wide variety of lifetime sports and games. We begin with a foundation of safety and then teach the requisite skills for a lifetime of fun activity. Campers usually will do one or two of these fun activities every single day.
Each camper builds the prerequisite outdoor skills (climbing, hiking, biking, camping, and paddling) during in-camp activity sessions on the Camp Pinnacle property. Our property is expansive enough that we have extensive single-track mountain biking, hiking trails and five developed campsites on property. The on-campus learning prepares campers for our exciting and age-appropriate Off-Camp Adventures. These activities, properly learned at camp can be pursued for the rest of your life!
