Fall Update from Pinnacle

The sounds of laughter and outdoor play are still echoing at Camp Pinnacle as we work with schools from across the Southeast this fall.  Great food is still being served in the dining room and Tom and Nick are hard at work building decks, upgrading cabins and making improvements.  A movie is being filmed here next week, (we can’t say who or what) and then two more school groups, a retirement party and two weddings and it will be time to close down Camp Pinnacle for the winter.

Tom's new Deck - Phase 2 of new waterfront

Then the construction will begin…  A new and much needed tin roof will be going on the gym. We are building a 210 foot waterslide on the other side of the lake (where the kayak slide is now) It will start much  higher up the hill and have several screaming turns as it winds through the trees until your splash down 15 feet into the lake.  No NC camp will have a waterslide anything like this one! We are going to build a new fishing dock over the water below the beach volleyball pit and add another mile or two of incredible mountain biking trails behind the bike park.  We will be refurbishing a campsite across the Lake. Tom is finishing the Putt Putt course and we should have seven really cool holes by summer. Look for new decks on cabins and a new wood walkways down by the paddleboats and down the girl’s side of camp. We are also remodeling another bathroom for the girls.

Next year is going to be really fun!  In our planning meetings, we have added some new, exciting Venture trips so returning students will get to go to different places each year.  We are also adding ways to teach more skills so we can take you on more challenging Venture trips as you prepare yourself.

We will be making changes to the website this month and adding lots of photos and easier menus.  Sam is in our office this month making videos and you can expect to see several new videos (you may even see yourself!)  Our camp map will finally become an interactive map!

We miss you…our campers and counselors. School programs are the next best thing but it’s not the same as seeing you!  We hope you are studying hard, getting outside and staying in touch with your many camp friends! Remember to enroll by October 31st so you can save $200 on 2013 tuition. A reliable rumor says that any 2013 camper who signs up by Halloween just might get a Camp Pinnacle fleece!

Best,
Dock, Ben, Maggie and Cait

Our new Waterslide will look very similar to this!
