Counselors are expected to be excellent role models as they teach a variety of outdoor skills and foster a close community. Session size is generally 100 campers with 28 counselors. Outdoor skills taught include: backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, cooking, orienteering, Leave No Trace concepts, and general environmental eduction. You will live in a cabin with campers of the same gender who remain under your supervision. During each session, the counselor team works closely together to coordinate all aspects of the session including: instruction in all camp activites, leadership of out of camp ventures, mananging group dynamics, facilitating a safe and fun enviroment. Counselors receive support while at camp from other staff and the Directors.
Once we recieve your completed online application, we will contact you to begin the hiring process. The hiring process includes three interviews to ensure we are a good match for each other. We will also check your references and perform a background check. This hiring process is time-intensive, but we have found it to be the best way to create incredible counselor teams.
