Counselors are expected to be excellent role models as they teach a variety of outdoor skills and foster a close community. Session size is generally 100 campers with 28 counselors. Outdoor skills taught include: backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, cooking, orienteering, Leave No Trace concepts, and general environmental eduction. You will live in a cabin with campers of the same gender who remain under your supervision. During each session, the counselor team works closely together to coordinate all aspects of the session including: instruction in all outdoor activites, risk managment, mananging group dynamics, menu planning, laundry, transportaion, coordinating with outfitters, maintaining equipment, and handling medical issues. Counselors receive support while at camp from the Directors.
Once we recieve your completed online application, we will send you a confrimation email. This email will include instructions to help you better understand what makes Camp Pinnacle and our hireing process unique. Once we receive your completed application and skills assessment, we can begin our extensive interview process. The interview process includes two to three interviews to ensure we are a good match for each other. We will also check your references and perform a background check. This hiring process is time-intensive, but we have found it to be the best way to create incredible counselor teams. Most counselor applicants are impressed with the thoroughness of our interview process
