Camp Pinnacle Staff

Our counselor team is the heart and soul of Camp Pinnacle. They are more than just counselors—they are role models, mentors, and friends to our campers. Every new counselor has:

  • 3 interviews
  • 4 reference checks
  • Complete background checks
  • Certifications in Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder and CPR
  • Completed at least one year of college or trained in Adventure Treks’ Leadership Summit program

Outstanding all around! Wynn had such a great experience. We especially appreciate the Camp Pinnacle philosophy and the excellent preparation and training that counselors get—not only to provide great teaching in the activities but to be role models, to build relationships with kids, and to foster friendships and personal growth for campers. She always tells people that she LOVES camp because of her great counselors, her friends, and the outdoor stuff she can’t do here at home. – Christy Miller, Westwood Hills, KS

We hire counselors who have outdoor experience, advanced training, and solid skills, but, more important, who have a strong sense of character and caring for children. Almost 80 percent of our staff are graduates from our Adventure Treks programs, and every counselor attends a two-week orientation that begins with an emphasis on building a close, inclusive, and caring community. We believe our camp counselors are uniquely suited and trained to make a positive impression to last a lifetime.

Our counselors attend great colleges, such as:

  • Harvard University
  • Yale University
  • University of Notre Dame
  • University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  • University of Florida
  • Colorado College
  • Stanford University
  • Tulane University
  • Vassar College
  • Clemson University
  • College of Charleston
  • Dartmouth College
  • University of Michigan
