Camp Pinnacle Alumni Reunion
Wednesday, April 8, 2009
Dear Pinnacle Alumni,
Winter has just about left us and spring is trying to emerge and Camp is getting slicked up for the 82nd year of fun, learning, character building, and the usual Camp shenanigans. It's like watching a rebirth every year as things are put in order for the upcoming sessions. If you haven't already done so, please take a few minutes to browse through the 600 and some pictures that various people have uploaded into the "Camp Pinnacle Alumni Group" on the
Facebook website. They are phenomenal and bring back so many different memories of different eras.
It looks like most people are available in September, so mark your calendars for September 25th - September 27th. Registration will begin on Friday, September 25th starting at 4:00 pm. You can choose to stay in a cabin or we will have a block of rooms reserved at a local hotel if you prefer not to "rough it". Please fill out the registration below and send it in along with a deposit check for $50.00 to reserve your spot. The total cost for the weekend festivities is $125, which includes 6 meals (wine, beer, soft drinks, etc. and hors d'oeuvres included) and a specially designed T-shirt. If you have any questions please feel free to call the camp office at 800-336-6992. Your registration form must be in by August 7th, 2009. More details of reunion are on the following page. If you have not registered on the "Alumni" page at
www.camppinnacle.com, please add or update your information. Also, please pass this on to any Alumni you know. There will be a prize for the year with the most attendees!!
Sorry! This event is for alumni only.
Please fill out the
Registration Letter and view Agenda and return it to us as soon as possible to secure your place!

Winter at Camp
Friday, February 6, 2009
Sorry we haven't had an update in so long, but with Glen and I being on the road there wasn't much time. I finally decided to update our Blog when I realized I did not have access to update it. So after some time, I have finally gained access to the Camp Pinnacle Blog!
Things are very VERY cold up here at Camp! The past week the highs have been in the upper 20s. Even all the squirrels who run and play outside my office window have finally called it quits! The only sounds you now hear through out camp are leaves rustling around as the wind blows through.
All the frigid weather has caused the warm and refreshing waters of Wolfe Lake to turn into one giant ice cube! Last I checked the ice was only about 2-3 inches thick. Not thick enough for me to test out if Ice Skating would be a good idea. Despite the cold, we have yet to have a good snow. I keep crossing my fingers because there is nothing I want more than to sled down the front lawn flying by all the numbered cabins that will be occupied in only 4 months.
Here are some recent pictures of the frozen Wolfe Lake, I hope you enjoy them.

Start counting down the days! Summer is right around the corner and will be here before you know it.
Talk to you soon!

Jake Hustead New Associate Director
Thursday, September 18, 2008

I am proud to announce that Jake has decided to come on board full time as of September 1st. Jake is a long time staff member who started here in 1995 as a counselor. Jake worked for the next 7 summers as a counselor, Aquatics Director and finally Program Director. His duties will include camper recruitment and staff hiring along with program
responsibilities. Look for Jake to be contacting many of you to set up presentations in your area.
We continue to have some great groups using camp in the off season. Doug Perry (karate demonstrations in boy's camp) held his 14th Annual camp here in August. There were people from as far away as South Africa here training. We have had two large family/friend retreats and have a wedding coming up in a few weeks. It's never boring around here.
Remember that the "Early Bird Discount" ends on October 3rd. Don't miss your chance to save 10% on camp fees. All you need to do is update your online application and mail your check to us. Daniel and Jake are already making some BIG plans for 2009. Don't miss out on them. Register today!!!

What's Going on at Camp Now???
Friday, August 22, 2008

A lot of you want to know what we do after the campers go home. I tell most people that I just hunt and fish but the truth is we run groups through here up until November. Just last week we had a water polo group from Ohio hold a training camp. A first for Wolfe Lake. They set up a regulation size court and practiced 3 times a day in the lake. It was fun to watch and gave me a whole new respect for water polo players. The pictures show how they set up the court and a practice game. I will post some more pictures for up coming groups and happenings here at camp.

WORK DAY AT CAMP
Wednesday, April 30, 2008
We held our first ever work day here at Pinnacle on Saturday April 26th. I thought it was just going to be a few staff that lived close enough to drive in but thanks to the efforts of Lorie our office manager, Roger our maintenance director, his assistant Carl and Daniel we had over 50 people here. It was amazing. Andy Otazo flew in from Miami, Will Campbell drove from Nashville. Aaron Baker, Joseph Freeman, Walt Powers, Sarah Quinn and Coleman Troup all had several hour drives. Mary Mac Evans, Ruthie Oates, Ruth Hobbs Evans and Mary Jane Satterfield all came and worked even though they had their proms on Saturday night. Now thats dedication!!! We also had people from the Henderson County Sheriff's K-9 squad (who are hooking up a wireless internet connection for us), Major Doug Perry's karate camp and Inside Out here working. Joshua, Courtney, Jake Hustead, Bootie Mayfield, Tom and Jan Vestal with daughters Ruth and Nancy and granddaughters Lyndon and Nancy B. even made it to work. All of this was organized behind my back. Drew Dekle and his wife and 2 year old daughter and Lorie's dad Bill were out there giving it their all. Mike Okopinski and Anna Evans were here even though they are only 2 weeks away from their own wedding here at camp. All I could do was cry and hug people.
The amount of work done was simply amazing!!! Camp has never looked better and Elizabeth and I will be forever grateful to all who were here. I guess it just goes to show how special this place we get to call home is to the people it touches. Our campers and their families will be truly blessed by all of these wonderful peoples efforts.
