Fun at Summer Camp Pinnacle for Boys

Almost Turkey Day

Camp is now shut down for the season with the last group coming in a week ago for a family reunion. However, Daniel and I are busy making phone calls right now to prepare for going on the road. Anyone interested in doing a presentation, please feel free to call the office, for every person you bring with you to camp you will receive 10% commission. Plus, you get to bring your friends to share in the experience that has made such an impact on your life.
We have just sent out a Holiday Special Discount for those still on the fence about next summer hoping to jostle you towards coming back. Understanding that the economy is not completely back, yet going in the right direction, this is a chance to save on an experience of a lifetime.
We hope this news post finds you well and that you are safe and dry. At camp we are fighting back the rain and watching the lake rise. Have a safe Thanksgiving and hopefully we will see you on the road soon.

With camp being over this does not mean that we have shut down and things have come to a screeching stop. Instead camp has been just as bustling as ever with many different groups already having come to the property. Several family reunions have come to camp, trying to catch the last days of summer and the warmer lake temperatures. We have also been invaded by ninjas for a week, with karate people from all over the world coming to train with Major Doug Perry, the number one karate instructor outside of Okinawa. Following all of this excitement we also had a great group of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athlete) students from Furman University come for a weekend. And that’s just the beginning of what has been going on and what is to come.

Speaking of what is to come; early bird specials have gone out. Yes, unfortunately it is true; this will be Glen’s last summer at Camp Pinnacle as of right now. This does not mean we will be toning anything back for this summer; instead we are doing the opposite. We have already begun planning how to make this summer the greatest, most incredible and all together best summer to ever happen anywhere at any time. Trey and Ruthie are already working on new ideas to blow LAIR and GI Jane out of the water. And I will be going to Murfreesboro, TN here soon to begin bringing even more kids back to camp this year.

Even with all of that going on we still are just hitting the tip of the iceberg for what has been going on. This coming weekend is the first ever Alumni event being held at Pinnacle, with Alums traveling from all corners of the states to spend a fun filled weekend at camp eating barbeque and blobbing. If the rain continues it might become a murderball-fest in the gym…

Until next time, have fun and be safe.

Camp Pinnacle Alumni Reunion

Dear Pinnacle Alumni,

Winter has just about left us and spring is trying to emerge and Camp is getting slicked up for the 82nd year of fun, learning, character building, and the usual Camp shenanigans. It's like watching a rebirth every year as things are put in order for the upcoming sessions. If you haven't already done so, please take a few minutes to browse through the 600 and some pictures that various people have uploaded into the "Camp Pinnacle Alumni Group" on the Facebook website. They are phenomenal and bring back so many different memories of different eras.

It looks like most people are available in September, so mark your calendars for September 25th - September 27th. Registration will begin on Friday, September 25th starting at 4:00 pm. You can choose to stay in a cabin or we will have a block of rooms reserved at a local hotel if you prefer not to "rough it". Please fill out the registration below and send it in along with a deposit check for $50.00 to reserve your spot. The total cost for the weekend festivities is $125, which includes 6 meals (wine, beer, soft drinks, etc. and hors d'oeuvres included) and a specially designed T-shirt. If you have any questions please feel free to call the camp office at 800-336-6992. Your registration form must be in by August 7th, 2009. More details of reunion are on the following page. If you have not registered on the "Alumni" page at www.camppinnacle.com, please add or update your information. Also, please pass this on to any Alumni you know. There will be a prize for the year with the most attendees!!

Winter at Camp

Sorry we haven't had an update in so long, but with Glen and I being on the road there wasn't much time. I finally decided to update our Blog when I realized I did not have access to update it. So after some time, I have finally gained access to the Camp Pinnacle Blog!

Things are very VERY cold up here at Camp! The past week the highs have been in the upper 20s. Even all the squirrels who run and play outside my office window have finally called it quits! The only sounds you now hear through out camp are leaves rustling around as the wind blows through.

All the frigid weather has caused the warm and refreshing waters of Wolfe Lake to turn into one giant ice cube! Last I checked the ice was only about 2-3 inches thick. Not thick enough for me to test out if Ice Skating would be a good idea. Despite the cold, we have yet to have a good snow. I keep crossing my fingers because there is nothing I want more than to sled down the front lawn flying by all the numbered cabins that will be occupied in only 4 months.

Here are some recent pictures of the frozen Wolfe Lake, I hope you enjoy them.

Start counting down the days! Summer is right around the corner and will be here before you know it.

Talk to you soon!

Jake Hustead New Associate Director

I am proud to announce that Jake has decided to come on board full time as of September 1st. Jake is a long time staff member who started here in 1995 as a counselor. Jake worked for the next 7 summers as a counselor, Aquatics Director and finally Program Director. His duties will include camper recruitment and staff hiring along with program responsibilities. Look for Jake to be contacting many of you to set up presentations in your area.
We continue to have some great groups using camp in the off season. Doug Perry (karate demonstrations in boy's camp) held his 14th Annual camp here in August. There were people from as far away as South Africa here training. We have had two large family/friend retreats and have a wedding coming up in a few weeks. It's never boring around here.
Remember that the "Early Bird Discount" ends on October 3rd. Don't miss your chance to save 10% on camp fees. All you need to do is update your online application and mail your check to us. Daniel and Jake are already making some BIG plans for 2009. Don't miss out on them. Register today!!!
