Jake Hustead New Associate Director
Thursday, September 18, 2008

I am proud to announce that Jake has decided to come on board full time as of September 1st. Jake is a long time staff member who started here in 1995 as a counselor. Jake worked for the next 7 summers as a counselor, Aquatics Director and finally Program Director. His duties will include camper recruitment and staff hiring along with program
responsibilities. Look for Jake to be contacting many of you to set up presentations in your area.
We continue to have some great groups using camp in the off season. Doug Perry (karate demonstrations in boy's camp) held his 14th Annual camp here in August. There were people from as far away as South Africa here training. We have had two large family/friend retreats and have a wedding coming up in a few weeks. It's never boring around here.
Remember that the "Early Bird Discount" ends on October 3rd. Don't miss your chance to save 10% on camp fees. All you need to do is update your online application and mail your check to us. Daniel and Jake are already making some BIG plans for 2009. Don't miss out on them. Register today!!!

What's Going on at Camp Now???
Friday, August 22, 2008

A lot of you want to know what we do after the campers go home. I tell most people that I just hunt and fish but the truth is we run groups through here up until November. Just last week we had a water polo group from Ohio hold a training camp. A first for Wolfe Lake. They set up a regulation size court and practiced 3 times a day in the lake. It was fun to watch and gave me a whole new respect for water polo players. The pictures show how they set up the court and a practice game. I will post some more pictures for up coming groups and happenings here at camp.

WORK DAY AT CAMP
Wednesday, April 30, 2008
We held our first ever work day here at Pinnacle on Saturday April 26th. I thought it was just going to be a few staff that lived close enough to drive in but thanks to the efforts of Lorie our office manager, Roger our maintenance director, his assistant Carl and Daniel we had over 50 people here. It was amazing. Andy Otazo flew in from Miami, Will Campbell drove from Nashville. Aaron Baker, Joseph Freeman, Walt Powers, Sarah Quinn and Coleman Troup all had several hour drives. Mary Mac Evans, Ruthie Oates, Ruth Hobbs Evans and Mary Jane Satterfield all came and worked even though they had their proms on Saturday night. Now thats dedication!!! We also had people from the Henderson County Sheriff's K-9 squad (who are hooking up a wireless internet connection for us), Major Doug Perry's karate camp and Inside Out here working. Joshua, Courtney, Jake Hustead, Bootie Mayfield, Tom and Jan Vestal with daughters Ruth and Nancy and granddaughters Lyndon and Nancy B. even made it to work. All of this was organized behind my back. Drew Dekle and his wife and 2 year old daughter and Lorie's dad Bill were out there giving it their all. Mike Okopinski and Anna Evans were here even though they are only 2 weeks away from their own wedding here at camp. All I could do was cry and hug people.
The amount of work done was simply amazing!!! Camp has never looked better and Elizabeth and I will be forever grateful to all who were here. I guess it just goes to show how special this place we get to call home is to the people it touches. Our campers and their families will be truly blessed by all of these wonderful peoples efforts.

Sorry it has been so long!!!
Wednesday, March 26, 2008
I admit it!! I'm the worst at new things like this news page. I had all intentions of updating from the road-I even carried a laptop with me-but it did not happen. Sorry!! I will try harder to keep everybody up on what's going on this Spring.
Roger-the maintenance director- is busy getting camp cleaned up from all the winter storms. We were lucky and did not have any major damage but plenty of limbs down. We are in the middle of a major repair job on the dam right now. The lake is drained and a crew has repaired the top and is working on repairing all the minor leaks. We have found some interesting things in the lake while it is down. A bowling ball off the canoe docks-I've never seen it before- two newspaper boxes up by the bridge and a number of watches and sunglasses around the swim dock. We should be able to start raising the water level in about two weeks so we will have a full lake by June.
Attendance is still down overall. We have plenty of room in all sessions so get signed up now. We have a GREAT staff hired in both girl's and boy's camp. Lots of our best returning and several new faces to round things out. If you miss this summer you will miss the best time of your life. Sign up NOW.
Co-ed is still in danger of not happening. If you want to attend you must sign up by April 1st. We have lots of cool things planned and would love to pull this off. It would be a first for us and you could be a part of it.
I promise I will work harder on keeping the news current. I look forward to seeing you all this summer!!

Update From Camp
Thursday, January 3, 2008
I hope each of you had a Wonderful Holiday Season and are enjoying a blessed New Year. We all had some time off to enjoy our families and are ready to tackle 2008. It’s going to be a GREAT YEAR!!
I meet with both Daniel & Charlie and Nancy & Barrett over the holidays. They are making some AWESOME plans for this summer. Staff hiring is well underway and it should be one of the best ever. All we need now is you!! If you have not already signed up – PLEASE do so SOON!! We are counting on you to complete our plans.
Our first ever “CO-ED WEEK” is off to a slow start. Right now we have only 6 girls and 2 boys signed up. We MUST have a minimum of 70 campers to make this week work. PLEASE sign up NOW!! We will have to make a decision on April 1st as to whether to have this special week or not.
Well, I’m off on the road in the morning – hope it’s warmer in Florida as it is 12 degrees here now. Hope to see many of you soon.
Please keep checking the NEWS page for news from the road.

New "News Page"
Wednesday, December 19, 2007
This is a first for us here at Camp Pinnacle. A NEWS PAGE!!!! We are going to try to keep you up with what is going on here at camp and out on the road. I will try to get weekly news up from the road-and maybe even pictures-from presentations and who I have seen. You will also be able to comment on camp news and post pictures-after approval- of what’s going on with you.
As most of you know I’m not the most technologically gifted person in the world. It will take some time for me to get the hang of this so please bear with me. We have done several new computer related projects here this fall and my head is spinning trying to keep up, but they are exciting and will benefit us all when they are done.
One of the most exciting is a revamp of our website. Nothing is visible right now but when we unveil it later this winter it will be GREAT. We need your help to make this happen. We want to use YOUR pictures on the website!!! Send us your best camp pictures in JPG format or send us prints and the best ones will be used on the site. You can be famous!
The first ever CO-ED week still has plenty of room. This is something most of you have wanted us to do for years and so we are trying it. Now we need you to sign-up for it so that we can make it a reality. I would hate to have spent so much time planning this special week only to have to cancel it because you did not sign up. Boys, the girls are way ahead of you in signing up so get busy.
I will be headed to South Florida right after the first of the year. I look forward to seeing many of you as I work my way through the state. Bring your friends out to one of the presentations and let’s make Camp 2008 the best ever.
The 2007 Yearbook DVD’s are going in the mail today (the 18
th) so be looking for yours. I think they are the best we have ever had so a BIG “Thank You” to J. Scott for capturing all the fun of ’07.
I wish each and every one of you the Happiest of Holidays and look forward to seeing you all back here at camp in 2008.
